Enjoyable read about practices in big pharma and small biotech companies Pure fiction but 265 I read this a while ago but it has stayed in my mind and I have only recently discovered Goodreads On the face of it an insight into the pharmaceutical world often portrayed as bad but in this novel they can be the victims of dodgy dealings by organised crime Behind the obvious plot Curatolo also challenges us with questions about morality Can a bad guy redeem himself by doing good does it matter if something is not quite legal if it benefits people how does the value of one person stack up against the greater benefit of mankind All of this and an a fresh new perspective on where the future of pharmaceuticals might lie 265 I really liked this novel and there was so much that I learned from it It has a fairly complex plot and is difficult to summarize without revealing a spoiler In a nutshell it tells the story of a crock who builds a pharmaceutical business on shady practices and botched clinical trials Although this novel is pure fiction I felt I was reading a memoir It is packed with facts that only an insider would know I learned how pharmaceutical companies operate how clinical trials are run about online pharmacies how drugs work and what it takes to build a start up biotech I do believe that readers with some knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry will enjoy this the most I have to admit though that parts of the novel made no sense For example how did Frank get hold of the incriminating documents and how can you commit a crime at noon at a wal mart parking lot without ever getting caught The ending also felt like the beginning of a saga I wish Mr Curatolo would write a sequel maybe about how the characters end up building an empire on falsified data and shady practices in clinical trials marketing and supplies Great work 265
