Science Fiction There is a lot going on in this book that I probably would have been better acquainted with had I read the entire series BUT it really didn t take long to get on board and caught up There s the good vamps and the bad vamps and those that ride the fence gathering intel and spreading the word There are also humans that know about the vamps and fewer who are like Rocky A great tale with plenty of action I love the characters and their special skills Love how they all forget their conflicts and band together when needed And I truly love how fate steps in when nothing else works This is an awesome read and yes it s a standalone with carryover characters which would help you not have to figure it out or wait to get caught up and some under stuff going on My first read by this author but most def it won t be my last Romance.

Downbeat vs upbeat I enjoyed the goofy humor even though it did tend to overpower the story at times That s kind of the shtick with this series though I think I even got most of the music jokes which makes me happy I still have no idea why Rocky was self conscious about her eyes but I m happy that the hero s attempt to call her Raquel failed after he realized he was trying to make her over to fit the image he had of her rather than acknowledging who she was I don t think I ve ever seen that in a romance before and the way it was handled here makes me so much happier than I ve ever been with this trope Romance Paranormal Science Fiction Kitty s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book ReviewsReview copy provided for an honest review5 STARSI absolutely adore Mary Hughes storytelling abilities the way she goes from exploring the Bermuda Triangle to ripping fingers off one by one is amazing But most of all I adore how she makes Paranormal seem normal I always loose myself in the Biting Love series and it was no different with Downbeat. Downbeat kindle reader We re back in Meier s Corners and the orchestra is taking center stage in this book Rocky Raquel has had a crush on Maestro Dragan Zajicek forever He is brought in to be the guest conductor for the CSUCS after Hugo Banger is hospitalized She can t believe that she is finally meeting him but shy as she is she ll never really get to know him That is until he singles her out and shows her was a beautiful loving thrill seeker she really is. Science Fiction downbeat Dragon has a past that he is not part of and an ongoing argument with both the Alliance and Cotieri Elias is upset that he refuses to step down from the stage and bringing the spotlight on the fact that he is no aging possibly outing all Vampires to the humans He s also a spy who was sent to Meier s Corners to find out about the Megavamp that Nosferatu is testing to be his first lieutenant What he doesn t count on is Rocky and the power that she has over him his mate a woman who deserves than a murderer. Downbeat special What neither of them expect is that the Megavamp aka Gravloth thinks that Rocky is his mate and will stop at nothing to get her He s indestructible Cannot be killed by humans or vampires and destroys all that is in his path But he has a weakness one that Rocky was willing to exploit to save her family and friends even if it means giving up her whole life to save them. Science Fiction downbeat Yes there is a happy ending for Rocky and Dragan as Rocky comes into her own and Dragan leaves the past in the past We still don t know if Elias is going to cut him some slack about refusing to go into hiding with the rest of the vampires but they were able to get Camille to finally change sides as she realizes that Nosferatu is only using her We visit with Bo and Elena Julian and Nixie Liese and Logan and their children And Luke and his long blond braid and piercing eyes needs to find his HEA and get over whatever is bothering him. Downbeat old issues But like I said in the beginning Mary Hughes has a wonderful way of telling stories she just drags you under and keeps you there with the way she makes everything come alive even making the Vampires human loving caring and oh so sexy Downbeat is laugh out loud funny with lots of romance and bit of intrigue hot vampires and just the thing to read to get over the after the holiday s doldrums Romance Paranormal Science Fiction
