But I actually really sympathized with her and feel bad that she got tossed into this story with a bunch of odd teenagers and random magic 204 I purchased this book recently and was surprised at what I found This synopsis does not do the book justice in preparing the reader for what they are going to get Reading this synopsis I truly did not expect for there to be a supernatural element to this book I was also not expecting the main character to start out as a 13 year old girl What is great is that we get to see her mature and age during this segment of the series We watch Rylee go through all those emotions that a 13 15 year old girl goes through and then we also get added to it that she is dealing with a dad overseas fighting a war I read this book rather quickly It is a great young adult read I was really upset to see that book two is only offered in paperback at this time Had it been available in e copy I would have swiped it up and went into book two I was a little disappointed in the really simple editing blips that should have been caught I do not have much else to complain about though I give this book 4. An interesting read I m looking forward to reading into this story 204 Why did I finish reading this book What was the point of this book It abruptly ended answering zero questions. EPub Unusual awakening wynn Definitely did not like 204 Twist in the middleI don t read often and when a book keeps me wondering and staying up late it deserves five stars I thought I knew a secret about Rylee s father but it was a totally different outcome I look forward to book two 204 I have to admit I have never read a young adult romance before I was very intrigued when I saw the title of this book Rylee Everley s is the oldest of three sisters and it is up to help and take care of her younger twin sisters because their dad has been deployed to Afghanistan with the Army Reserve Lauren Rylee s mother does have her up and down days missing her husband but she is a good mother Rylee has this uncanny ability to hear her father s voice and it all starts when she has a run in with a school bus At the beginning of the book you watch Rylee s life change as her father leaves the beginning of the school year and the accident are all revolving around Rylee Rylee has very good friends especially her best friend Lyla who is definitely the exact opposite of Rylee Lyla is the outspoken fun party girl and Rylee is the quiet stay at home help take care of her sister s type Lyla is convinced that there is something going on with Rylee and their family friend s son Brock Parker Brock is the typical jock but he is also very friendly helpful and caring Brock even helped Rylee s mom pick out her new cell phone and car for her birthday Is there something between them Unfortunately there is not and by the time Rylee figures out that she may have feelings for this boy is when Adysin comes into the picture Rylee and her aren t quite friends but they share a group of friends including Brock Rylee tries to warn Brock that something is off with Adysin and boy is she right Adysin s family travels through time in portals Her mother is a witch yet her dad is 100% human which makes her a half witch Adysin can hear Rylee talking to her father and she knows she hears him but the problem is that also means Adysin can get into Rylee s head as well She definitely doesn t want competition when it comes to Brock how far will she go I enjoyed this book very much It was a good change of pace for me being that my normal reads are intense it was nice to sit back and enjoy this story Geared towards young adult I believe this also can be a lovely story for adults like me S. Kindle Unusual awakenings book M Knowles is a fabulous writer Flowing perfectly from paragraph to paragraph this book was entertaining and very well written 204 I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review no compensation on my part was received. Unusual Awakening booking 5 star for me however I do not give 5 stars lightly at all Rylee is a typical preteen when her world is shattered by a war she doesn t understand and the deployment of her father her best friend and her anchor to Afghanistan She takes it upon herself to become the caretaker of the family after seeing her mother shut down After 2 years pass and her father has still not returned her teen years kick in full force Not only is it becoming harder to contain the emotional changes within herself that affect us all in our teen years there are other things occurring in her life that make her question her sanity and ability to cope and stay strong While at the same time warring with her own emotions for boys and the lessons left to her by her father in her youth she suddenly has to deal with an onslaught of odd occurrences she doesn t understand and there is no explanation for Is she loosing grip of reality Will her father ever come home Will she ever be able to resume a normal life While struggling with finding her own independence her feelings for Brock the son of long time family friends and all the odd things that are happening to her she finally realizes she is not alone and can rely on her best friend Lyla I loved Lyla s upbeat attitude and complete loyalty to Rylee it s rare in life to find a friendship like that Then comes Adysin who I felt off about from her first appearance but did not anticipate the surprise there I mean really I lost sleep once I hit that part of the book because I HAD to know what was going to happen This was an exceptionally well written novel that I could not put down Rylee s character was so engrossing and easy to connect with at least for me The secondary characters were all memorable and entertaining in their own right and I CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on the next book Awakening Dream which is out soon S. Unusual Awakening kindle store Okay if you watched the trailer or not you can clearly see why I said there are witches in this story Because there aren t any indication of a witch When they say darkness the first thing I go for is something like a demon or the undead not a witch I would have said an evil magical force or just use magical Also not that is impacts the story the music that plays fits the normal like of the teen even tho the music should have changed to a darker tone when the pentagram shows up which only strengthens my initial beliefs about demons by the by Chapters 01 and 02 We begin in what is described as a perfect home of one Rylee Everly our protagonist This is where I start to have problems with the book The setting is just so perfect You have Lauren the mother who feels like the token housewife steadily preparing the meal for her family and the guests The wonder twins Ava and Zoe who are used as a sort of cute factor They tend to argue with one another and annoy Rylee And then there s the man himself Denver who portrays the loving military father Due to the fact that you NEVER really hear his name throughout the book I am just going to refer to him as The D. Unusual Awakening bookkeeping Anyways as the table is being prepped Rylee explains that her father will be leaving for Afghanistan the next day and she s pretty torn up about it To be honest I started to like this part about Rylee She is going to lose someone whom she known all her life to something that has no importance to her family Sure it s selfish but that is something we all experience even if it isn t dealing with the military But let s put a pause on that to introduce the Parkers a medical family who are friends with the Everleys Here we meet Brock Parker who shows he has an obvious crush on Rylee The scenes with them basically just show the awkward exchanges in dialog between them as Rylee starts to feel weird around him The two families dine and talk then it was time for them to go. Kindle Unusual awakening wynn in the beginning of the chapter with its own separate line It made me thing that maybe there were chapter names in this book but it s not the case I feel like if I was going to include something like that in the beginning of the chapter I d make that a pattern through the book But who am I to say I only write scripts and voice act so I might not the best person to judge Anyways lets continueAs the chapter title indicates two years have past after the events of the first two chapters The family seem to handle the separation of The D rather well except for the mother becoming distant the daughter stressing over the new responsibility as the caretaker and over all the family missing the head of the household But whatever let s go camping The daughters all decide to go out camping together This is at the point where I start to remind myself that there are witches in this story So yes camping is happening right now But oh no mother nature creates a heavy downpour which actually cause a bit of panic due to the creek swallowing up the campsite Oh one of the twins was missing for a bit but I just care about witches Chapter 04Like all stories about children and teenagers we have to show their school life. Book Unusual awakening events Anyways we get to also meet probably the most random yet apparently important character of this chapter EMT Jacob Connolly Why is he so important Because apparently his name is brought up it s always as by EMT Jacob Connolly Anyway after his appearance Rylee and Ghost Dad talk a bit and she gets admitted to the hospital The RestLook I ve been trying to type out the Chapter 5 s review and I dealt with power outages errors and even the computer freezing So I m going to just paste pictures I photoshopped together while reading this Take in the context any way you like Without further ado In the end No one get s the D 204 That awkward quiet girl that seems to keep to herselfthat would be Rylee Everley Rylee appears to be the caretaker of her family Always trying to please everyone before tending to her own wants needs With a father in the military twin sisters that rely on her for guidance a mother that struggles with her duties and friends who just don t quite get her Rylee has many conflicts to overcome. Kindle Unusual awakening blox Rylee begins to develop her independence and identify who she is and what she wants out of life She has her friend Lyla that has stuck by her and a guy friend Brock who wants nothing than to protect Rylee and possibly be than friends After Rylee discovers maybe she wants this too in comes the barrierAdysin Something about Adysin just isn t right In Adysin s chapter everything you thought you had figured out so far in the bookis all shot to Haedes And the story takes off like wildfire from there taking the reader on a whirlwind ride through new emotions character clashes and a BIG REVELATION Seriously I thought I had learned everything I needed to know in the first half of the book I pretty much had made my mind up about the characters why they are the way they are where their character is going in the future I was given the shock of my life in Adysin s chapter and couldn t put the book downI needed to rebuild these characters in my head and get and understanding of where they were going and I loved every second of it This series is going to be one NOT TO MISS If you love reading a developing independence of characters a blossoming love interest and that huge bit of mystery intertwinedthen this series is for you 204 Well um how do I say this That was just weird Not at all what I thought this book was going to be about which could have been a good thing because I actually LIKE the topic of where this went but it doesn t at all match the description given for the book with random supernatural witchcraft stuff coming out of nowhere Even the main plot about the girl dealing with her parent being shipped off in the armed forces was a bit meh at best and not nearly as heartwarming or emotional as it could have been Add on that the dialogue especially of the teenagers came across as forced and unnatural with drawn out scenes that made the story feel like it was moving at a snail s pace so it was really hard for me to get into this book The only reason I am giving it two stars and not one star is because I feel really bad for the mother in the story she was kind of presented to be a kind of bad character with her selfishness except for one thing She s had to step up Her father is gone off to fight for our country and she is home with 2 twin sisters and a mother who leaves them emotionally when things happen and the father goes missing The story really starts taking place when Rylee is 15 and in high school and she realizes her father may never come back The story has tons and tons of other characters in it which make it that much better What I wouldn t give to have a best friend like Lyla at my side all my life and then there is Brock Parker a guy Rylee has known all her life and never realized he likes her until Lyla points it out But Rylee can t date until she is 17 and then Adysin comes into the picture Right off the bat Rylee doesn t like Adysin but she gives her the benefit of the doubt Something happens to Rylee after an accident involving a bus and she can hear things like people talking in her head She feels her father so maybe just maybe he is still out there in the world What happens when someone tries to take your friend and turn them into something they aren t Rylee will soon find out what is most important to her and realize maybe she likes Brock than she wants to admit but is it to late and has Adysin got him under her spell You should read it to find out 204
